John Wilson started fishing at the age of six
and has been an angling fanatic ever since.
After trying several other jobs (ranging from
merchant navy to running a chain of hairdressing
salons in Barbados) he opened his own fishing
tackle shop in Norwich.

Although he has always liked sea angling and
Scuba diving, his first love has been subtle art
of catching freshwater fish; so much so, that he
kept a fishing diary for over fifteen years and
this book is one typical year from that diary
with all the frustration and triumphs that all
anglers will know from their own experience.
John Wilson writes about the technical problems
involved in specimen fishing location, the
weather, baits, tackle and techniques but he
also writes about the joys and frustrations: the
memorable and triumphant days, and the days when
absolutely nothing goes right, the good luck and
the bad luck which is a lot of all fisherman.
