Here
is no dry, hard-to-read instructional manual - though there is a wealth of
information to be gleaned from it. In fact, the book contains almost
day-to-day accounts of Jack Hilton's experiences while fishing for carp.
Experiences that take us from his modest beginning catching wild carp from
a local pool, to the pursuit of monster carp further a field, carp of a
size the average angler can only dream about.

Jack tells of the varied problems with
which he has been faced when carp fishing on many different waters
problems, involving not only searching out the waters concerned and luring
the specimens they contained, but also the specialist tackle required.

Most important, too, is
the mental outlook and approach so necessary to achieve the best
results.
Quest for Carp is a true, unique and fascinating
study, of absorbing interest to both beginner and specialist angler.
From the foreword by Rod Hutchinson
Quest for Carp does not give you all the answers. Jack always had his
secrets. But it is totally inspiring. The fish that Jack writes about were
truly huge at the time this book was written. It should also be noted that
in the two years after this book was published, Jack caught two even
larger carp. He also went on to catch the largest brace of winter carp
ever caught at that date.
Jack was truly a remarkable angler. I wish he'd have put a few secrets my
way, but he didnšt, so I had to stick at it for years until the pennies
started dropping. The inspirations this book has given me, have been
responsible for so many wonderful times, and taken me all over the world,
in the spirit of Jack, after the biggest.
So put your slippers on, get by the fire with a glass of wine, and read
Quest For Carp. It's about ordinary lads from the building trade, who
aimed for the highest. I bet when you've finished it, you'll be getting
the tackle ready.
