The
Little Egret Press was formed by Tom
O'Reilly in January 2001.
The aim of the press is to
publish good quality angling books, both
classic titles and new, at a
price every one could afford.
Before
this time Tom O'Reilly felt very frustrated at the state of angling
publishing in England- or the lack of it!
The major publishers just
weren't interested in angling
books unless there was TV tie-in or they would be sure they would
sell in the tens
of thousands, while small independent publishers thought
fishing was too much of a risk!
But Tom, through his love of reading and collecting angling books
knew
there was a market of like-minded anglers who would like to buy new
works.
He
also felt that a new
generation of
anglers would also be interested to
read the classic fishing books by authors such as BB and Richard Walker,
but at a price they could afford, rather than the over inflated first
edition prices avid collectors are willing to pay.
To try and cut out the
middleman's high percentage,

The Little Egret Press's books are
sold
directly
to the public via advertisements in the angling press
and online via the internet.
